Carroll County Land Deed Book O
This Indenture made this 10 th day Of March 1862 between James W.
Groom & Moses Auvenshine
That for and in consideration of the sum of Five hundred Dollars to him
in hand paid by said Moses Auvenshine, the said James W. Groom has given,
granted bargained and sold unto said Moses Auvenshine a certain tract of
land in the 17th District of Carroll County Tennessee Butted & bounded
as follows towit, containing 18 Acres & 32 poles, Begining on the south
west corner of a 200 acre tract known as the Wells tract, running west
24 poles to Stokers tract & corners on the north west corner of a 144
acre tract granted in the name of William Mitchell, then north to Robert
Strokers corner on the big branch then east with the branch & corners
on a 200 acre tract granted in the name Thomas R. Avam_ The other tract
contains 58 acres & 53 1/2 poles adjoins the above named. Begining
on Groom east boundary and then east 200 poles to a tract of land entered
in the name of James Yee then north 26 7/8 poles and corner on Yees land,
west boundary line, then west and corner on the big branch, then
with branch and corner on the Groom tract. Which said tract of land I convey to said Moses Auvenshine &
his heirs forever and the said James W. Groom warrants & defends the
might and title to said land to said Auvenshine and his heirs and against
said Groom & his heirs & against the claim of all other persons
whatever, In testimony where of the said W. Groom has set his hand and
seal.
